Door Panel Applications

Material specifications can be adjusted for different door-forming processes, panel structures and appearance requirements.

Sectional Doors

Garage Door Outer Skins

Weather-exposed prepainted steel with controlled color, gloss, forming performance and surface protection.

Insulated Panels

PU Door Panel Skins

Outer and inner steel skins with reverse-side coating selected for PU foaming or adhesive compatibility.

Roll Forming

Rolling Door and Slat Coil

Slit coil for continuous roll forming, with width, hardness and coating adhesion reviewed for the profile.

Decorative Finish

Embossed and Wood-Grain Skins

Surface options for residential, villa and commercial door manufacturers seeking a differentiated appearance.

Supply Specifications

Final values are confirmed according to the door profile, roll-forming process, panel structure and project requirements.

Quotation control: state whether the requested thickness is base-metal thickness or finished thickness. Also provide the forming width, finished profile and coil-weight limit.

Surface and Appearance Options

Door manufacturers can select the surface according to product positioning, roll-forming method and end-market preference.

Smooth prepainted steel finish for garage door panels

Smooth Finish

Clean commercial appearance for industrial and modern residential door panels.

Stucco embossed prepainted steel for garage door panels

Stucco Embossed

Helps reduce the visual impact of minor forming marks and improves decorative texture.

Linear ribbed prepainted steel finish for sectional door panels

Linear or Ribbed

Suitable for sectional door patterns and profile designs requiring a stronger visual line.

Wood grain prepainted steel for garage door panels

Wood-Grain Finish

Decorative printed or laminated direction for premium residential and villa door skins.

Sample approval is required. Screen colors and RAL references cannot fully represent gloss, texture, emboss depth or printed wood-grain appearance.

Outer Skin and Reverse-Side Coating

A garage door coil must be specified on both sides. The exposed face controls appearance and weathering, while the reverse side affects bonding and panel production.

Weathering and Appearance

Select the topcoat according to UV exposure, color-retention requirement, corrosion environment, forming demand and project budget.

Compare coating systems in the PPGI coating types guide.

Reverse Side

PU Foaming or Adhesive Compatibility

The reverse-side coating must be tested with the actual PU system, adhesive, production temperature and panel process. A generic back coat should not be assumed to work with every foam or adhesive formulation.

Requirements for Door Roll Forming

Material selection must match the profile geometry and production line. A coating that performs well on a flat sheet may not be suitable for a tight bend or deep embossing operation.

T-Bend and Adhesion

Acceptance criteria should match the bend radius, embossing depth and forming sequence.

Steel Grade and Hardness

Balance profile rigidity with roll-forming performance and panel flatness.

Color and Gloss Control

Approve a physical standard and define batch-control requirements for large door orders.

Protective Film

Confirm film adhesion, forming suitability, storage period and removal conditions.

Processing and Supply Support

Everest Steel coordinates coating production through long-term partner lines and supports downstream preparation with dedicated slitting, cut-to-length and embossing resources.

1

Application Review

Confirm door type, panel structure, forming method, exposed environment and appearance target.

2

Sample and Specification Approval

Approve color, gloss, texture, embossing, coating structure and forming test requirements.

3

Coating and Processing

Coordinate coil coating, slitting, embossing or cut-to-length according to the order.

4

Inspection and Traceability

Check agreed dimensions, color, coating, surface and batch identification.

5

Packing and Shipment

Protect coil edges and decorative surfaces for export transport and downstream handling.

Garage Door Steel FAQ

Which coating is suitable for garage door panels?

PE, SMP, HDP and PVDF are selected according to forming, UV exposure, corrosion environment, color-retention requirement and budget. The final coating structure should be confirmed with the complete door-panel specification.

Can the same steel be used for the outer and inner skins?

Yes, but the exposed-face coating and reverse-side bonding requirements may differ. Outer and inner skins should be specified separately when appearance, corrosion or PU-bonding requirements are different.

What back coat should be used for PU door panels?

The reverse-side coating should be selected and tested with the actual PU system, adhesive, temperature and panel process. A universal back-coat specification should not be assumed.

Can embossed or wood-grain door steel be supplied?

Yes. Smooth, stucco, linear embossed and selected wood-grain finishes can be reviewed according to the required color, pattern, width and quantity.

What information is needed before sampling?

Provide the door application, profile, thickness basis, width, substrate, coating, color, gloss, embossing, reverse-side requirement and target quantity.
